Damp, Germany

Damp is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein. It is located on the peninsula Schwansen on the Baltic Sea.

Geography and transport

Damp is located about 16 kilometers northeast of Eckenförde on the Baltic coast. West of the Schwansenstraße (B 203) runs from Eckernförde to Kappeln. The municipality consists of the village Vogelsang green wood, next to the villages Dorotheenthal, fish Leger, nurture wood, Nieby, Pommerby, Schwastrum, the goods green wood and Damp and that one directly on the coast Ostseebad Damp. The holiday center opened in 1973 is connected to the same scale district road K 61 with the Schwansenstraße.

History

The community was in 1927 from the same Gutsbezirk forth. The municipal area, the Red Maass, an ancient place of worship was established in 1964 with a stone circle found.

Good Damp

The Good Damp is between Vogelsang green wood and the Baltic Sea Damp almost directly at the K 61 in the nurture wood. The manor was first mentioned in 1438. It first became the Bishop of Schleswig and has since become independent.

The mansion, often referred to as a castle was listed in 1595 in the Renaissance style and rebuilt several times. The built on an artificial river island mansion has a ten-meter high entrance hall, from which a double staircase leads to the upper floor. The Renaissance is inhabited by the family of Count Reventlow since the end of the 16th century. The manor house is equipped with many figures stucco and decorated with furniture and paintings from the period around 1700.

Until 1640 both mansion and cow house was remodeled several times. In the cow house an eponymous restaurant is run today. It is sometimes also seen in the ZDF series The Country Doctor. In one of the outbuildings there is an art trade. The garden was originally created as a Baroque garden.

Ostseebad Damp

On 5 December 1968, the municipality decided to plan a holiday center with the futuristic name Damp 2000. Middle of the 1980s it was renamed in Ostseebad Damp. In 2011 there was a new name change to " baltic resort damp ".

The company is an economic operation of the public sector (municipality ). Even during the construction phase, the original concept of a purely tourist use of all houses was extended by a comprehensive clinical part. It emerged that the Baltic Sea Damp (1974) and the health clinic, subsequent rehabilitation clinic ( 1974/1975 ). As centers of training, the training institute for Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine (1982) and the state- recognized school of nursing (1983 ) were added.

1990 Aqua Tropicana was opened, a tropical sea water swimming pool with sauna and spa services. 1997 was a fun & sport center added. In Damp there is also a marina with 14 bridges and 365 boat moorings. Since 2012, Aqua Tropicana is closed, a new water park is under construction and will open in June 2014.

Policy

Of the 13 seats in the municipal council, the SPD has since the local elections in 2013 six seats, the CDU has five and the voter community ABD two.

In the list of cultural monuments in Damp are registered in the list of monuments of Schleswig- Holstein cultural monuments.

The Lifeboat Karl van Well the GMRS is stationed in Damp.
