Dampierre-en-Bresse

Dampierre -en- Bresse is a commune in the Bourgogne Saône -et -Loire. It belongs to the district Louhans, for Canton Pierre -de- Bresse and community association Canton de Pierre -de- Bresse and has 170 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The inhabitants are called Dampierris.

Geography

The municipality is located in the countryside of the Bresse and crossed by the small river Guyotte. The body of water forms the western boundary of the parish. The commune includes the following hamlets: Borgeot, Breuil, Cailloux, Champagne, Champ- Renaud, Chize, Cholot, En -Haut, Etang- Monard, Grange, Haut-de -Grange, moth - Trenard, Palanchat, Picardière, Roselay, Saumon, Siceigne, Vaux, Yvolots.

Etymology

The name comes from Domnus Peter (Latin Saints Peter Dominus = Lord, in the sense of Holy Spirit - Peter = rock, rock, the name of a disciple of Jesus) back, a place name that occurs more than 50 times in what is now France.

History

About the history Dampierres little is known, it is mentioned since the 13th century, in 1473 a castle is in the fief directories also listed.

Infrastructure

The village has a church, among others ( dedicated to Saint Peter in Chains ), a Mairie ( Municipal House ), an electrician, a horse breeding and several farms.
