Damshagen

Damshagen is a municipality in the northern part of the North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern, Germany. It is administered by the Office Klützer angle with headquarters in the city Klutz.

Geography

Damshagen is located in Klützer angle between the towns of Greve mills, Klutz and the coastal Bolton.

The municipality consists of the villages Damshagen, village Gutov, Reppenhagen, yard Gutov, yard Reppenhagen, Kussow, Moor, Parin, Pohnstorf, Rolofshagen, parking Hagen and Welzin.

History

In 1230 the city was first called in Ratzeburg tithe register that the time to the diocese of Ratzeburg belonging villages ordered by parishes listed as a Thomas Hagen. The first mention of Steller Hagen, today Stellshagen and Wulsin, today Welzin be dated to the year 1230. The name appears Damshagen 1370 for the first time as Damme Hagen. The place name derives from the Slavic Welzin of locator Volca (Wolf), that means place of Volcán.

On 1 July 1961, the municipality was created in its present form by the incorporation Reppenhagens. On 7 June 2009 the municipalities moor Rolofshagen and Damshagen merged to form the new municipality Damshagen.

Structures

Worth seeing is the rather large brick gothic church of St. Thomas in the 14th century with the baroque altar of the Lübeck sculptor Jerome Hassberg from 1724 and an organ dating from 1844.

The manor house was begun in 1914 and completed by the outbreak of war until 1916. Architecturally significant is also erected around 1910 " Chamberlain House " next to the parsonage.
