Dan Barrett (musician)

Dan Barrett ( born December 14, 1955 in Pasadena, California) is an American jazz trombonist, cornetist, arranger and bandleader of Oldtime and mainstream jazz.

Dan Barrett first played in California revival bands, as in 1973 in the formation " Ory 's Creole Trombone ", with which he appeared at the funeral of Kid Ory. He worked at this time with Teddy Buckner, Andy Blakeney and Alton Redd, former members of Ory's band. In 1983 he went to New York, there formed a quintet with Howard Alden, played in the Widespread Depression Orchestra and worked as a sideman in the bands of Benny Goodman and Buck Clayton. Barrett has also worked as musical director for the Mainstream label Arbors Records in Clearwater, Florida.

Barrett had in his career, also on albums by Rosemary Clooney, Barbara Dennerlein, Rex Allen's Swing Express, Bobby Gordon, Marty Grosz, the Gully Low Jazz Band, Keith Ingham, Jane Jarvis, the New York All Stars, Randy Sandke, Dick Sudhalter, Warren Vache and Mel Tormé with.
