Dan Dare

Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future is a British science fiction comic strip series by Frank Hampson. The comic first appeared in the British magazine Young Eagle on April 14, 1950. The series was published weekly until the cessation of the Eagle 1969.

The comic strips were fully colored. The plot revolves around Dan Dare, his loyal companion named Digby and the green meanie Mekon Venus, the opponent of the main character. The British band The Mekons called after this.

In 2003, the British rock musician John Miles wrote with Tom Kelly ( book, lyrics ), the stage adaptation of Dan Dare - The Musical.
