Dan Jinks

Dan Jinks (* in Miami) is an American film producer. For the film American Beauty, he won in 2000 with Bruce Cohen an Oscar. 2009 were both nominated again for Milk.

Life

Jinks studied at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts and began his career at a New York theater. For Touchstone Pictures produced Jinks 1997 film Nothing to Lose Martin Lawrence and Tim Robbins. As executive producer, he then worked for the film The Bone Collector.

Together with director and producer Bruce Cohen founded the film production company Jinks The Jinks / Cohen Company. Together they produced the 1999 film American Beauty, who won at the Academy Awards 2000 nominations five eight Oscars. Among the award in the category Best Film for the best production. More prices, the film won the Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Foreign Film at the BAFTA Awards for Best Film and the PGA Awards for best production.

Other films of the Jinks / Cohen Company were, inter alia, Down with Love - To hell with love! starring Renée Zellweger and Ewan McGregor in the lead roles and Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton, who was nominated at the Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards for Best Film.

Later, Jinks and Cohen concentrated increasingly on TV series, including the series Pushing Daisies, which received eight Emmy Awards and was nominated for a Golden Globe.

2008 the two succeeded with Milk, in which Sean Penn took the lead role, another big success. The film was nominated for eight Oscars in 2009, one of them again for Best film. Also for the BAFTA Awards and the PGA Awards, there were nominations. In addition, the New York Film Critics Circle has named Milk as the best film of the year.
