Dan Makham Tia District

Amphoe Dan Makham Tia ( Thai: อำเภอ ด่าน มะขาม เตี้ย ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the southern part of the province of Kanchanaburi. The Kanchanaburi province is located in the western part of central Thailand on the border with Myanmar.

Geography

The neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Kanchanaburi and Amphoe Tha Muang Kanchanaburi province and the Amphoe Chom Suan Phung Bueng and the province of Ratchaburi.

The main water resources are the Maenam Kwai ( Khwae Noi River ) and Maenam Phachi ( Phachi River ).

History

The territory of Dan Makham Tia was more than 200 years a village, which represented the boundary between the Mueang Kanchanaburi and Burma. There was in the past diminutive Makham trees ( tamarind tree ), so the first village " Ban Nong Makham Tia " was. Later it was renamed dan in Dan Makham Tia.

The district was first created on 1 April 1990 as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) by the three tambon Dan Makham Tia, Klondo and Chorakhe Phueak Amphoe Mueang Kanchanaburi were separated from. On September 8, 1995 Dan Makham Tia got the full Amphoe status.

Management

The circle is divided into four subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 39 villages ( Muban ).

Dan Makham Tia ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ด่าน มะขาม เตี้ย ) is a small town ( thesaban tambon) which covers parts of tambon Dan Makham Tia.

Furthermore, there are four " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
