Dan Maskell

Daniel " Dan " Maskell (* April 11 1908 in Fulham, London, † December 10, 1992 ) was a British tennis player, Davis Cup coach, and radio and TV commentator.

Biography

Dan Maskell was born in London and was six times British tennis champion. 1933 and 1936 he was the coach of the successful Davis Cup team that won in 1933 against France 3-2. After serving as a soldier in World War II his commentary career began at the Wimbledon Championships for the BBC. From 1949 Maskell worked in radio before moving to television in 1951. The British as the "voice of tennis" ( German voice of tennis) became known. In 1977, Dan Maskell, the company " The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust". He remained until his retirement in 1991 at the BBC, and died a year later. In 1996, his posthumous induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
