Dan McCafferty

Dan McCafferty ( born October 14, 1946 in Dunfermline, Scotland) is a Scottish singer and founding member of hard rock band Nazareth.

Biography

In 1975 he took, inter alia, with members Deep Purple and the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, a solo album under his own name, on which he published his favorite songs of various bands and musicians. About ten years later he decided once again to a solo project. On the '87er LP "Into the Ring", he finished the B-side with a added to the English language version of the song "Neuland suite" by German rock singer Hans Hartz, the this about two years ago as the title song for the same ARD production had written.

The friendly band Deep Purple knew the qualities McCaffertys very good, and after the departure of Ian Gillan they asked him if he wanted to fill the position. However, he refused, and David Coverdale was instead engaged.

In September 2013 Dan McCafferty had to announce for health reasons that he can no longer go on tour with Nazareth. In the spring of 2014 announced for the new album, however, he again played all the songs. In an interview McCafferty stated that he can imagine to make further studio recordings, but holds live shows by 1 3/4 hours or longer unlikely.

Another remarkable feature is still the unshakable earthiness. Also to platinum - times his band was looking McCafferty always be close to the fans. It was not unusual that he was to be found right after a concert at the merchandise booth to celebrate with crew and fans after show parties. In interviews, he has always maintained a chummy and familiar style with the journalists.

About his private life he kept getting pretty covered. He lives between tours and recording sessions withdrawn in his little Scottish birthplace and attends his Stammpubs.

He lived only in the late 1970s to the early 1980s temporarily on the Isle of Man ahead of Ireland.
