Dan Piraro

Daniel Charles Piraro (born 1958 in Kansas City ( Missouri)) is an American cartoonist.

Piraro grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he attended high school. He then lived for many years in Dallas, Texas and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York City. Since 1985, his cartoon series Bizarro is published in hundreds of newspapers. The drawings theme the "normal" life in a surreal, bizarre garb. Piraro hidden in his cartoons mostly small, symbolic objects: an eyeball ( the eye of the beholder ), a UFO ( The UFO of opportunity ) or a fish tail ( the fish of humility ). By 2002, Piraro was vegan. This fact is also visible in his work. Again and again, vegan topics like animal rights or animal cruelty.

Bizarro cartoons were reprinted in the Titanic in Germany in 2004 and 2005. Since 2011 the web portal publishes regularly web.de German -speaking Bizarro cartoons.
