Dana Vávrová

Dana Vávrová ( born August 9, 1967 in Prague, † February 5, 2009 in Munich) was a Czech- German film actress and director.

Life

In their home country Vávrová was at the age of six years, a child star; she performed in children's fairy tales and movies and also starred in the children's television series Pan Tau and Fairytale bride with. In 1982 she became a teenager for her role as young Janina David in the television miniseries A piece of heaven in Germany notoriety. For this role, she received the Golden Camera Awards, the Golden Gong and the Adolf Grimme Prize.

In 1986 she married the 28 years old director, cinematographer and producer Joseph Vilsmaier she had met while filming other episodes of One Piece of Heaven. In 1988, she played in the film Autumn Milk the female lead role as Anna Wimschneider under the direction of her husband, it was also Vilsmaier directorial debut. For this role she won in 1989 along with her co-star Werner Stocker the Bavarian Film Award and the German Film Award as best young actress. In the same year she was awarded the German Actor Award ( Chaplin shoe) of the Association of German film and television directors eV as best young actress.

Among other film roles, often under the direction of her husband, she took on many television roles and also led to direct myself. Most recently, she led the Artur Brauner Production The last train to end after director Joseph Vilsmaier had been injured during the shooting.

The three daughters of Vávrová and Vilsmaier, Janina Vilsmaier, Theresa Vilsmaier and Josefina Vilsmaier, are also active as actresses. Her older sister Hana Heřmánková is known in the Czech Republic as a TV presenter.

In February 2009, Dana Vávrová died at the age of 41 years from the effects of cancer.
