Danamombe

Dhlodhlo, older name Danangombe, is the youngest of the large stone ruin complexes in Zimbabwe. It is situated 75 kilometers east of Bulawayo about halfway to Gweru.

Danangobe was founded in Torwa Dynasty, one of the two States in which after the discontinuation of Great Zimbabwe (also called Imbahuru ) the power of Rozvi concentrated. The ruins are in dispute, dated times to the 17th times to the 18th century.

1650 took over the Changamire Dynasty ( Rozwi strain) power in Torwareich and thus Dhlodhlo. For the Changamire Dhlodhlo was one of their most important places. To his assurance they set up cannons Portuguese origin. The stone building they built up into the 18th century continues. The brickwork with its partly ornamental stone arrangement constitutes a development of that of the older sites dar. Together with local pottery, which continue to stand in the Torwa tradition, also objects of Dutch origin were found as a gin bottle from the early 18th century.

Dhlodhlo remained the center of the Changamirereiches until it broke under the onslaught of Mfekane in the 1830s and the country in 1834 - 1837 was conquered by the Ndebele.
