Danbury is a city in Brazoria County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The town is located just east of the center of the county, in southeast Texas, is approximately 20 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of 2.5 km ² without significant water surface.

History

As 1905/ 06, the Missouri Pacific Railroad was built, it was in this area, only a few isolated farms and ranches. The construction of the railway attracted new settlers and Danbury was established, named either after the railway manager DJ " Uncle Dan " Moller or after Daniel T. Miller.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 1,611 people in 554 households and 442 families. The population density was 647.9 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 90.38 % White, 0.62 % African American, 0.19 % Native American, 0.31 % Asian, 0.06 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 6.15 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.30% were of mixed descent, and 15.52 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 554 households 46.6 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 63.7 % were married couples living together. 11.6% were single mothers and 20.2% were non-families. 18.1 % of all households were single-person households and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size was 3.30 persons to.

31.9% of the population were under 18 years old, 9.9 % from 18 to 24, 29.5% 25-44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.3 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 32 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 95.5 males.

The median income for a household was $ 50,536, and the median income for a family $ 56,250. Males have a median income of $ 44,250 versus $ 25,893 for females.
