Danbury Trashers
The Danbury Trashers were an American ice hockey team from Danbury, Connecticut. The team played from 2004 to 2006 in the United Hockey League.
History
The team was founded in 2004 as a franchise of the United Hockey League. After the team had failed in its debut season in the second playoff round at the Colonial Cup, it first reached in the 2005/06 season in first place in the Eastern Division, before then in the playoff final after victories over the Quad City Mallards Muskegon Fury and the Kalamazoo Wings with 1:4 victories subject in the best- of-seven series.
Following the 2005/ 06 season, the franchise was dissolved. Was preceded by a fraud scandal in the 29 members of the franchises were involved. Those responsible had the salary cap expanded illegally to three times the permissible. The gap left by the team in the city, was filled in 2008 by the Danbury Mad Hatters of the Eastern Professional Hockey League.
