Production
It is produced by Collins Avenue Productions of America on the Competition Team of the Abby Lee Dance Company. So far two seasons of the series on the American station "Life Times " were shown. The first episode ran there on 13 June 2011. Previously, 42 episodes were produced of 40 minutes. On April 3, 2012, also on "Life Times ", the first episode of the series Dance Moms Miami sister shown.

In Pittsburgh study with the renowned Abby Lee Dance Company, owned and operated is the sophisticated and passionate dance teacher Abby Lee Miller, Children's early dance steps on the way to fame. For them and their mothers it comes to performance in each sample. Shown are the highs and lows of the competitive season and the dramas in the pursuit of the ultimate National Dance title.
Characters
Abby Lee Miller
Abby Lee Miller founded with 14 years of her own dance school. Today it is over 40 years old and choreographed and trained there and still go every weekend with some of them only six year old dancers to competitions in the United States. For the mothers it is very unpopular with the exception of Melissa, because she has not afraid to yell at both the girls and their parents and to punish them.
The girls
Brooke Hyland
Brooke is the oldest of the group. She is very flexible and dances so very many acrobatics. Over the shipment Brooke always interested less for dancing and decides to dance in the cheerleading team her school, but eventually she finds back to the studio. Previously, Brooke was the favorite of Abby, as it was always only first.
Paige Hyland
Paige is Brooke's younger sister. Paige and Brooke's mother is Kelly. In addition, Paige and Brooke have a brother, but not dancing. Paige is often flamed by Abby, since they are not on the same level as Maddie and Chloe, so she is often at the bottom of the pyramid. Abby Paige is still often complimented for her looks.
Vivi- Anne Stein
Vivi- Anne comes from Candy Apple's Dance Center, which belonged to her mother. After she has trained some time with Abby, she returns to her mother's studio. Vivi was adopted from Guatemala.
Kendall Vertes
Kendall is the replacement for Vivi- Anne and from the second season, a permanent member of the ALDC. She is the second youngest of the group. She has two big sisters, one of which also tanzt.Ihre in the ALDC mother Jill Vertes tries to do everything to make her daughter gets special parts, this is not the other mothers scary.
Chloe Lukasiak
Chloe Elizabeth Lukasiak was born on May 25, 2001 in America. It got its name from her father Marc Lukasiak, who named it after the song Chloe Dancer. At the age of just two years time Chloe had her first dance lesson at the Abby Lee Dance Company. There she got to know Paige Hyland. The two are still very good friends. Chloe is with Maddie together the best dancer of the group. While Maddie by Abby almost only gets praise, Chloe Abby is often criticized on the one hand because Chloe's mom Christi often argues with Abby, on the other hand, because Chloe is shy and does not have much self-esteem. In the first Nationals Chloe forgot her solo and finally left the stage. There is a constant competition between her and Maddie. Throughout the series Chloe Maddie could beat every now and then. Since Chloe is only a few months older than Maddie, they often dance in the same age group. At the Nationals at the end of the second season Chloe Maddie has also beaten. Despite the constant competitive struggle of the girls and their mothers are Chloe and Maddie very good friends, which is being covered up in the show as often as possible. Chloe has a little sister named Clara. This is eight years younger than Chloe and was named by her sister in the Nutcracker. Chloe's mother is Christ, who often argues with Abby and always trying to protect her daughter from Abby's attacks. Christ has as it were launched Dance Moms. Mackenzie Ziegler
Mackenzie is at the beginning of the first season six years old and the youngest in the group. Christ Lukasiak

Melissa Ziegler Gisoni
Melissa is the mother of Maddie and Mackenzie. You want to advance the career of their daughters and often therefore tries to do what Abby expected of her. Kelly Hyland
Kelly is the mother of Paige and Brooke. She herself has taken earlier lessons with Abby and she knows all her life. Yet they often argues with Abby because this anmeckert their children and called stupid. Kelly has so often leave the ALDC with their children, but came back each time.
Holly Frazier
Holly is the mother of Nia. She has several university degrees and works as a school director. Holly is popular with everyone, but restrains himself when there is dispute with Abby, because she knows that she does not get further with discussions with her. Your it is important that Nia developed a good personality than to be the best dancer.
Jill Vertes
Jill is the mother of Kendall. Their only goal is that Kendall is the best dancer. She scares, just like Melissa would not be afraid to make Abby gifts.
