Dancing with the Stars (U.S. TV series)

Dancing with the Stars is an American dance talent show radio station ABC. It is the American version of the British television show Strictly Come Dancing, which is broadcast on BBC One since 2004. The judges since the first edition are Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

The first season began on June 1 and ended on July 6, 2005. Since two seasons per year were broadcast, one from March to May and a September-November. To date (November 2013), a total of 17 squadrons with 315 editions shown completely. The 18th season is expected to start in spring 2014.

Concept

In the broadcast pairs are formed from celebrities and professional dancers. They occur then every week in a live show against the other pairs to in order to convince the audience and a jury of themselves, so they are not voted out. Whether someone in the next program is still in the process is determined by two tuning. On the one hand are the three-member jury from after the dance points, while the viewers can vote by telephone, via the website ABC.com and on the Facebook page of a shipment of their favorites.

In the first two seasons only counted the overall ranking of the points of the jury and the audience, while the individual results are relevant since the third season. Each of the three members of the jury are points 1 to 10, so that each pair can get 3-30 points. The 15th season of the scheme is an exception because the jury awarded there between 0.5 and 10 points. From these points, a ranking list is first created and determined the percentage of points of all submitted items. The same procedure is applied in the votes of the audience and the two percentages then added together. The two couples with the lowest total percentage will be a day later called in a results show and the couple with the least points has to leave the broadcast.

The number of participants was in the first season at 6 and in the second season at 10 pairs. Since then, the number varies between 11 ( Season 3 ) and 16 (season 9). At the squadron took part last shown 12 pairs.
