Danger from the Deep

Danger from the Deep (also known as dangerdeep, German danger from the depths ) is a free computer game in which the U- boat war is simulated in the Second World War from the German perspective. The player takes command of a German U- boat, and controls in terms of tactical simulation all the essential functions such as engine, rudder, trim and torpedo system. The game has a free software comparatively complex graphics, and was compared by the game in concept with Silent Hunter. The game is developed primarily for Linux, the current version is to be afflicted with problems in Windows.

Control

The submarine is controlled on the one with the keyboard, on the other hand with the mouse. Use the F1 -F12 keys to switch through between stations, which are usually implemented in 2D. In these stations, you can still make each different settings (for example, control the speed torpedo tubes with torpedoes loaded ), which can in some cases also can adjust the keyboard. Stations such as the turret, the binocular (both available only when the submarine is surfaced ) or the outside view, however, are implemented in 3D. Use the 1-9 keys in addition, the speed and direction of travel (forward and reverse ) are regulated.

Modes

Danger from the Deep is playable in several different game modes:

In Geleitzugschlacht mode, first select from a Geleitzuggröße, possible escorts and his own submarine. It's about a whole group to sink merchant ships. With the approach of the game physically and historically correct simulation requires only the approximation of a convoy some time.

In the Historic Mission Mode you can choose between different time periods, and then plays a historical mission that has taken place at this time. This mode is not fully implemented yet. When it is done, one should, however, can enact the biggest events of the years 1939-1945.

The mode of attack on a warship is not yet implemented in the current version, however, one will have to carry out an attack on an enemy warship.
