Danger Hiptop

The Hiptop is an early smartphone from the U.S. producer Danger. Among the features include only GPRS telephony E- mail reception, a web browser, an instant messaging client and server terminal adapter ( SSH). A special feature of the system is that many data and, if media files are not, as usual, stored in the device, but over the wireless network on the servers of the service provider. Hackers took advantage of this peculiarity in 2005 and a security hole in order to hack into the account of Paris Hilton and therein to publish stored phone numbers and photos on the internet.

History

In Germany, the Hiptop was (also known as Sidekick, the marketing name of T-Mobile) sold since 2003 by mobile operator E-Plus together with an internet flat rate. The improved successor Hiptop 2 was available from April 2005 in Germany E-Plus. The new version differs from its predecessors mainly through a built-in camera and better processing, which was often criticized in the old version. The Hiptop 2 was available as a Sidekick II, however, in contrast to E -Plus with volume tariff with 30 MB free data instead of a flat rate since July 2005 with T -Mobile. However, this rate until the end of 2006 with a flat rate was comparable, since by then another transfer volume was not calculated.

Since 2006, a flat rate for the price of 10 euros for the Sidekick T-Mobile was available.

In March 2006, E-Plus, the active marketing of the Hiptop 2 officially.

In December 2006, T -Mobile Hiptop 3 under the name Sidekick 3 before. It differs from its predecessor, including through a navigation ball instead of a navigation control dial, a built in MP3 player and the possibility of memory expansion through a mini- SD card slot.

As of November 2007, the " Sidekick Slide " was sold in the United States. Shortly after the release of the Sidekick Slide in the U.S., it was due to technical problems, removed from the market, but offered later. It is the first device that Motorola and not, as the previous models, was built by Sharp.

Hidden features
