Dani Clos

Daniel " Dani " Clos Álvarez ( born October 23, 1988 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish racing driver. He rode from 2009 to 2013 in the GP2 series.

Career

Clos was from 1999 to 2005 in karting active. In 2004 we launched Clos also in the Spanish Formula Junior, in which he finished in fourth place overall at first. In the following two seasons Clos was in the Italian Formula Renault and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup active. After the 17th overall in the Italian Formula Renault 2005 he reached it a year later won the championship. In the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup was Clos 2006 with three wins seventh in the overall standings. In 2007 he moved to the Formula 3 Euro Series and reached for starting Signature-Plus twelfth place in the overall standings. In the 2008 Formula 3 Euro Series season Clos moved to Prema Power Team and finished 14th in the overall standings.

2008 Clos also took part in Formula 1 test driving for Williams. Although he did not win a race in the Formula 3 Euro Series, he was engaged by Racing Engineering for the 2009 GP2 Series season. After he had brought no points in the first nine race weekends, he scored at the last race of the season a podium placement. Clos benefited from some of the punishments placed before him the driver. At the end of the season, he finished 21st overall. In addition, Clos participated in several races of the Formula Renault 3.5. In the 2009/2010 GP2 Asia Series season Clos entered for Trident Racing in two runs. At the end of the season, he finished 27th overall. In 2010 he played in the European GP2 series as team-mate Christian Vietoris for Racing Engineering his second season. With a third place in the season opener, he had a good start into the new season and won the sprint race in Istanbul in his first race in the GP2 series. At Spa -Francorchamps he had to pause during the sprint race because of a sprained vertebra, which he had sustained in an accident in the main race. With some placements in the first places he took at the end of the season fourth overall, ahead of his teammate, who finished ninth. 2011 remained Clos at Racing Engineering and competed in the GP2 Asia and GP2 Series for the team. The GP2 Asia Series season, he finished with a victory in the last race from ninth place in the driver standings. In the GP2 Series, he finished with two second places as the eighth best results overall. Team Internally he was of Vietoris, who finished seventh, beaten, although his teammate did not participate in all races. After the season, he raced for the Rapax GP2 Final 2011 and was twelfth. He then completed a Formula 1 test drive for HRT.

2012 Clos received HRT in a contract as a test driver and took in this function at some Grand Prix weekends in the training part. In addition, he returned for two race weekends for Barwa Addax back in the GP2 Series. 2013 Clos was first without cockpit. He received the end of July a GP2 cockpit with MP Motorsport. With a second place as best result he finished the season starting on the 18th place overall.

Clos is in a relationship with the daughter of former football player Christo Stoichkov.
