Danie Visser

Danie Visser ( born July 26, 1961 in Rustenburg ) is a former South African tennis player. In 1990, he was ranked one of the double World Ranking.

Life

Visser was a professional tennis player in 1982 and reached to the side of his compatriot Tian Viljoen the doubles final of the ATP tournament in Munich. Both were in the following year two more times together in a double finals, but only in 1985 could Visser celebrate his first tournament victory. At the tournament in Bristol, he won along with Eddie Edwards. The following year, he was able to defend his title, this time with Christo Steyn. In total he won during his career 17 ATP doubles titles, nine of them with Pieter Aldrich, including the Masters Tournament of Toronto and the ATP International Series Gold tournament of Stuttgart. A further 25 times he stood in a double finals. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1984 with position 59 in singles, and in 1990 with position one in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 1985 In the doubles competition he won in 1990 on the side of Pieter Aldrich the U.S. Open and the Australian Open. ; In 1993 he won together with Laurie Warder the Australian Open for the second time.
