Daniel Alfredsson

Daniel Alfredsson ( born December 11, 1972 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since July 2013 when the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League contract.

Career

The ice hockey games learned Alfredsson at Göteborgs IK. In 1990 he moved for two seasons for IF Mölndal Hockey before he joined the Elitserien with 20 years Västra Frölunda HC. Here, the NHL became aware of him. NHL Entry Draft 1994 Ottawa Senators secured in the sixth round as the 133rd rights to Alfredsson.

It was not until the 1995/96 season was the now 22 year old Alfredson to Canada. In his first season, he brought it to 61 points scorer and could exceed expectations. For this, he was the second Swede ever the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best rookie. In his second season he improved to 71 points, but could in the following three seasons, handicapped by injury lay-offs, not able to go on these services. From 1998, he became the captain of the Senators. It was not until the 2000/01 season he reached the 70 point mark again, and this level was also up to the lockout in the 2004/05 season with. In line with Dany Heatley, he managed in the season 2005/ 06 for the first time over 100 points in the NHL to achieve. On 22 October 2010 he scored his 1009th NHL game for the Senators scored three goals against the Buffalo Sabres, reaching as 75th player in the history of the NHL, the mark of 1000 points.

On July 5, 2013 Alfredsson signed a one-year contract worth a total of 5.5 million U.S. dollars at the Detroit Red Wings.

Daniel Alfredsson is also a member of the Executive Committee of the players' union NHLPA and athlete ambassador of development organization Right to Play.

Alfredsson played at five Olympic Games (1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 ) for the Swedish national team, and was thus one of the team that won the gold medal in Turin in 2006. At the Olympic Games in 2014 he won the silver medal with the Swedish national team.
