Daniel Caines

Daniel Caines ( Daniel Stephen Caines, born May 15, 1979 in Solihull ) is an English former athlete who was successful in the 400 -meter run as well as with the British and English 4x400 - meter relay.

At the European Indoor Championships in 2000 in Ghent Caines was about 400 meters sixth. He retired at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney in the semi-finals, the British squadron was with Caine's Sixth. In Lisbon at the World Indoor Championships in 2001 Caines won the 400 meters in 46.4 seconds before the Americans Milton Campbell in 46.45 s

2002 occupied Caines at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna over 200 meters in 21.14 s fourth place, after he had gone in the semifinals his personal best of 20.62 s. The 2002 Commonwealth Games were held in late July in Manchester. About 400 meters Caines was s fourth with a hundredth of a second behind the Bahamian Avard Moncur in 45.13. In the relay is delivered as Caines cage rotor of the English and the Welsh Matthew Elias a fight to the finish line. The Englishman won in 3:00,40 minutes before the Welsh in 3:00,41 min. The British squadron for the European Championships in Munich was put together from two runners of the English and the Welsh season. At the World Indoor Championships 2003 in Birmingham Caines won in 45.43 s silver behind the American Tyree Washington in 45.34 s, the British squadron with Baulch and Caines won behind the United States and Jamaica bronze. At the World Championships in 2003, the British squadron took fifth place, which was later improved after the disqualification of the originally winning U.S. relay team to fourth place.

Daniel Caines belonged to the club Birchfield Harriers. At a height of 1.78 m his competition weight was 74 kg.
