Daniel Davis

Daniel Davis ( * November 26, 1945 in Gurdon, Arkansas ) is an American actor.

Life and career

Davis began at the age of eleven, his career as a singer, dancer and comedian. His performances have been broadcast as part of a children's series in the local television program. He attended the Arkansas Arts Center, where he made his diploma in Fine Arts. After his release, he was invited to the Shakespeare Festival in Oregon. There he was discovered by a producer who offered him a role in his Broadway play futz in New York.

Davis left the Broadway production and moved to the Shakespeare Festival in Stradford, Connecticut, to consolidate there for two years, his career as a theater actor, is on. Over a period of nearly 22 years he played in several theater groups and had appearances include at The Guthrie Theater, The Williamstow Theatre Festival, The National Theatre of Canada and seven years in the American Conservatory in San Francisco.

Davis continues appeared in Broadway productions such as Amadeus and together with Katharine Hepburn in Coco. In film and television, Davis was among others in The Hunt for Red October, K -9, Cheers, Frasier, LA Law, Civil Wars, Remington Steele, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Frank 's Place, Cagney & Lacey, and The Equalizer to see. He played twice in Star Trek: The Next Generation the role of Professor Moriarty. Davis had regular appearances in the U.S. series Texas and roles in television movies such as A Mighty Fortress, and The Perfect Tribute.

From 1993 to 1999 Davis starred with Fran Drescher and Charles Shaughnessy in the sitcom The Nanny Niles the butler. He got the role because he faked a British accent at the casting, because the butler Niles is from England.
