Daniel Eberlin

Daniel Eberlin ( baptized December 4, 1647 in Nuremberg, † between December 1713 and 5 June 1715 in Kassel ) was a German conductor and composer.

Life

He led an eventful life, from its first section only records of his son Georg Philipp Telemann have survived. Then he received a musical education in Rome to fight then as captain of the papal troops in the Morea against the Turks. He then became a librarian in his hometown. As a violinist at the Eisenach court orchestra he is mentioned several times 1667-1678, that he has already worked in 1673 in Kassel, is not occupied. In the fall of 1678 Landgrave Charles of Hesse -Kassel called him to his court in order to reorganize the local court orchestra. 1685 returned Eberlin back as Kapellmeister to Eisenach, where he was appointed in 1689 to the Mint. Due to irregularities - the duke is illegal have shaped coins - he fled from Eisenach in 1692 and was a banker in Hamburg. About the last part of life in turn exist only notes Telemann, after which he had last been captain of the militia in Kassel. Eberlin was married and had eight children. His daughter Amalia Louise Juliane was the first wife of composer Georg Philipp Telemann.

Work

He created and wrote cantatas a collection of trio sonatas of high musical quality. However, few of his works have survived. Among his students is one of the composer and officer Georg von Bertouch ( 1668-1743 ).
