Daniel Gillies

Daniel J. Gillies ( born March 14, 1976 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian actor.

Life and career

Daniel Gillies was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, his father was a pediatrician. He grew up in New Zealand and went to Southwell School and the Hamilton Boys High School. Gillies is married to actress Rachael Leigh Cook since 2004. In September 2013 their first daughter was born.

He made his acting debut in the New Zealand drama Street Legal, where he played Tim O'Connor. He starred opposite Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in Spider- Man 2 the role of John Jameson. He had, among other guest appearances on NCIS and True Blood. In addition he has held since 2010, the recurring role of Urvampires Elijah Mika Elson in Vampire Diaries, he also in its spin -off The Originals embodies since 2013.
