Career

After the time in his youth club FC novel horn Daniel Lopar joined the squad at the then Swiss first division club FC Wil. There he was already in the 2003/04 season at the age of 18 years much playing time because he could replace the injured goalkeeper Nicolas Beney. While he was still relegated to the Challenge League in the same year with Wil, he celebrated in the same period marked the greatest success of his career when he Grasshopper Club Zurich in the final of the Swiss Cup with his team defeated 3-2.

After the descent, he played with Wil in qualifying for the UEFA Cup, before he left the club in the spring of 2006 in the FC Thun. Back in the Super League, however, he had to content himself with mainly reservists role and denied during his six-month commitment only four league games at the Bernese countries.

In the 2006/07 season Lopar moved to FC St. Gallen. Also in St. Gallen Lopar was initially behind the experienced regular keeper Stefano Razzetti only second choice. This changed in January 2008, when the new coach Krassimir Balakov changed the goalkeeper hierarchy for the second half and Lopar summoned to the nominal number 1 at FC St. Gallen. Despite convincing performance as a goalkeeper in 2007/ 08 he went to St. Gallen by the end of the season in the Challenge League from. After the league title in 2008/ 09 he returned with St. Gallen directly back into the Super League.

Currently Daniel Lopar still plays for FC St. Gallen, where he has since been supplanted by Germano Vailati in goal since the season 2011/ 12, however, is again goalkeeper.

National

In the summer of 2005 Lopar participated with the Swiss U -20 team at the World Youth Championship in the Netherlands. As a goalkeeper in the tournament started, he was injured after the first game against South Korea ( 2-1) and could no longer be used in the further course. After defeats to Brazil and Nigeria, the team was eliminated in the first round.
