Daniel Mandell

Daniel Mandell ( born July 13, 1895 in New York; † June 8, 1987 in Orange County, California ) was an American editor.

Daniel Mandell was the first time in 1924 responsible for the editing of a film. In 1942 he was nominated for the first time for The Little Foxes starring Bette Davis for an Oscar. A year later, Mandell won the award for the large litter with lead actor Gary Cooper. In 1944 he turned Arsenic and Old Lace and The corsair, a year later, the miracle man. In 1947 he was awarded for the second time with the Oscar for the film The Best Years of our lives. 1958 Daniel Mandall was again nominated for an Oscar. But this time he went away empty-handed with Witness for the Prosecution.

A year later, the film Porgy and Bess and 1961 Mandell got his third Oscar for the Billy Wilder comedy The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. Until he took leave in 1966 to retire, Mandall edited nor the films One, two, three, Irma la Douce The Girl, Kiss Me, Fool and The Fortune Cookie.
