Daniel McBreen

Daniel James McBreen ( born April 23, 1977 in Burnley, England) is an Australian football player who is active for the Central Coast Mariners.

Club career

His first stop in professional football was Newcastle United Jets in Australia. In the 2000 /01 season he scored in 23 games, six goals. In the following season he reached the Newcastle with the A-League finals this season and played a total of 13 times and scoring three goals. For the 2005/06 season he signed a contract in the first Scottish league in Falkirk. After a season in Scotland, he joined the English League One club Scunthorpe United. In England, he came up with seven league appearances and a game in the FA Cup. In the 2007 /08 season again was followed by a short spell at FC St. Johnstone in Scotland. In the summer of 2009 he returned to Australia and signed a contract with North Queensland Fury. After only half a year, he joined Fury in exchange for James Downey to Perth Glory and played this season with Perth in the A-League Finals, difference there, however, against Wellington Phoenix. In August 2010 he moved to Ligakonkurennten Central Coast Mariners. In his first season with the Mariners, they reached the play-off final, but that was lost in a penalty shoot-out against Brisbane Roar. In the years 2012 and 2013 he again reached the finals with the Mariners. In the 2012/13 season he was top scorer with 27 goals. From June to October 2013, he spent three months on loan to China to Shanghai Dongya FC. For the 2013/14 season he returned to the Mariners.
