Daniel Mindel

Daniel Mindel ( born May 27, 1958 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is an American cinematographer.

Life

Mindel was born in South Africa, but received his education in Australia and the UK. He began his career in the film business as a camera assistant in the early 1980s. By participating in additional shots for the film desire in 1983 he came in contact with directors Ridley and Tony Scott. He worked with the two together in the production of advertising films and also worked on their film projects to the 1990s, with.

Mindel's first independent work as a cameraman took place in 1992 in two episodes of the series Red Shoe Diaries. This was followed by smaller projects and finally in 1998 the movie Enemy of the State 1, wherein the Mindel worked as director of photography for Tony Scott for the first time. There were other films together.

The action film Mission: Impossible III in 2006 was the first collaboration with director JJ Abrams. Other collaborations followed in 2009 with Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness in 2013.

Since 2008, Mindel of the American Society of Cinematographers belongs to. In November 2010 he took up membership of the British Society of Cinematographers.
