Daniel Rahimi

Daniel Rahimi (Persian دانیال رحيمي; born April 28, 1987 in Umeå ) is an Iranian- Swedish professional ice hockey player who is under contract with Linköpings HC in the Elitserien since 2012. He is the son of an Iranian father and a Swedish mother.

Career

Rahimi played during his youth with the juniors of IF Björklöven. At the age of 16 he came in the 2003/04 season to the first missions in the U18 team of the club that played in the J18 Allsvenskan, the highest Swedish league this age group. In ten games the defender recorded three points scorer, but it was unable to prevent relegation. Meanwhile, he ran a few times in the U20 team. In the following season came Rahimi in both the U18 and U20 juniors used. Because at the end of the season he made the ascent in the J20 SuperElit with the U20, he played in the following game year class Junior Hockey. The defender was used in 26 games and scored nine points scorer. In addition, he drove in six playoff games with five points.

During the 2005/06 season Rahimi was also the first time brought into the professional squad Björklövens and had completed six games for the seniors team in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan. He was then selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the summer of 2006 in the NHL Entry Draft in the third round at 82 point. This took the now 19 -year-old a few weeks after the draft contract, decided in the fall but to the fact that he should not spend one more season in his homeland. Rahimi graduated from the season 2006/ 07 thus again in Sweden. He played 33 games for the seniors and came up two points scorer, as well as five games for the U20 juniors. Following the season in Europe, the Canucks picked up the defender to North America. They sat him in five games a in their farm team, the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League. But the 2007/08 season then belonged to the Swedish squad for the Moose, leveled during the season but many a time between the AHL squad and the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, who also cultivated a partnership with the Vancouver Canucks. At the end of the football year, Rahimi had completed 41 games for Manitoba and 19 for Victoria. The defensive -oriented defenders had achieved it five points scorer. In the playoffs, where Manitoba only failed in the final of the Calder Cup at the Hershey Bears, he did not play. During the summer break Rahimi was then part of a business transfer, as the Canucks him and Patrick White in late August duties to the San Jose Sharks. In turn, Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich changed to Vancouver. Since the Sharks saw no way Rahimi accommodate the NHL squad and did not want to use him in the AHL, they loaned him out for the season 2009/10 Rögle BK in the Swedish Elitserien. Then, his contract was not renewed in San Jose and he moved to the 2010/11 season in the Elitserien for HV 71 Jönköping, with whom he had also participated in the first edition of the European Trophy pre-season. In the rest of the season, he also came as Players out on loan to four inserts for IF Troja Ljungby - in HockeyAllsvenskan. In the summer of 2012, he was obliged by the Elitserien participants Linköpings HC.

Internationally

For his native Sweden Rahimi took at junior level at the U20 Junior World Cup 2007, which took place in Sweden, in part. There he occupied with his team after a defeat in the semi-final against Russia and in the match for third place against the United States in fourth place.
