Daniel Roberdeau

Daniel Roberdeau (* 1727 St. Christopher (now St Kitts ), Caribbean, † January 5, 1795 in Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia ) was an American businessman, politician and general during the American Revolutionary War.

Career

His family immigrated in his childhood in the United States and settled in Philadelphia. There he completed his preparatory studies and went to the lumber business after. He was 1756-1760 a member of the Colonial Assembly. In addition, he was from 1756 to 1758 and again from 1766 to 1776 Manager of the Pennsylvania Hospital. He was also a member of the Council of Safety. Roberdeau became the first brigadier general of Pennsylvania's troops in 1776. In the following year he was elected to the Continental Congress, where he worked until 1779. During this time he signed the Articles of Confederation. He later moved in 1786 to Alexandria ( Virginia).

He died in 1795 in Winchester, and was buried at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
