Daniel Strigel

Daniel Striegel ( born February 13, 1975 in Mannheim ) is a former German fencer who belonged with the sword to the world class.

As second in the German Championship 2000 Daniel Striegel was present at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney as a substitute fencer and came to a bet against Belarus, the German team ended at the end of the fifth. In 2001 he reached with the team to second place at the European Championship in the World Fencing Championship 2001, he finished in the singles and the team each sixth place. 2002 Striegel has been with the team fifth in the World Cup. In 2003 he won the German championship with the single sword.

After a torn ACL in 2003 Striegel succeeded in late 2004 the Olympic qualification. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he finished eighth in the individual, together with Sven Schmid and Jörg Fiedler, he won the bronze medal in the team competition. 2005 occupied the three fencers together with Martin Schmitt once again took second place at the World Championships.

Daniel Striegel fought for FC Tauberbischofsheim, he was active spokesman for the German Fencing Federation. In 2006 he was elected head of the Olympic base Tauberbischofsheim. In 2010 he moved to the Olympic Training Center Rhein- Neckar.
