Daniel W. Waugh

Daniel Webster Waugh (* March 7, 1842 in Bluffton, Wells County, Indiana, † March 14, 1921 in Tipton, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1895 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Daniel Waugh attended the public schools of his home, including the Bluffton High School. Between 1861 and 1864 he served as a soldier in the army of the Union. He then worked as a teacher and in agriculture. After a subsequent law degree in 1866 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he began to practice in this profession in Tipton. Between 1884 and 1890 he was a judge on the 36th Judicial District of Indiana.

Politically, Waugh was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1890 he was in the ninth constituency of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joseph B. Cheadle on March 4, 1891. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1895 two legislative sessions. In 1894, Daniel Waugh gave up another Congress candidate. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives, he again worked as a lawyer. He died on 14 March 1921 in Tipton, where he was also buried.
