Daniela Hunger

Daniela Hunger ( born March 20, 1972 in Berlin) is a former German swimmer.

Career

In 1988, she was starting for the GDR at the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul Olympic champion over 200 meters individual medley and the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay. In individual competition, she was third on 400 m medley.

At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Daniela Hunger won silver in the 100m freestyle relay with the 4 × 100 m medley relay and bronze medals over 200m medley and the 4 ×.

In the years 1989, 1991 and 1993, they were each European champion over 200m medley. In 1996, she resigned after failing to qualify for the Summer Olympics back in Atlanta.

For her sporting achievements in 1988 in Seoul Daniela hunger was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.

GDR doping

Daniela hunger as well as the former East German swimmer Kristin Otto tip, Dagmar Hase and Heike Friedrich alleged to have taken illegal performance-enhancing substances at the European Swimming Championships in 1989 in Bonn. The testosterone content of the women corresponded to that of a normal man and was well above the normal female value.

In 1998 she went with some other former East German top swimmers such as Rica Reinisch, Carola Nitschke or Andrea Pollack against their former coaches and sport medicine with a complaint to the public that systematic doping was operated.
