Danko Grlić

Danko Grlić ( born September 18, 1923 in Gracanica, Yugoslavia; † 1 March 1984) was a philosopher, follower of Marxist humanism and member of the practice group. His brother Ljubisa Grlić (1921-1993) was a pharmacist.

1931 moved with his family to Grlić Zagreb. During the war he was active in the anti-fascist movement. From 1950 to 1955 he studied philosophy at the University of Zagreb. In 1959, he accepted the offer of Miroslav Krleža on to work on the Yugoslav lexicographical institute and became its editor of Philosophy and Sociology. In 1962 he started at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb to teach aesthetics. In 1965 he was one of the founding members of the Redaktionskomites the journal practice. From 1966 to 1968 he was president of the Croatian Philosophical Society. In 1968 he was banned from teaching at the Academy. Was particularly interested Grlić on the aesthetics and philosophy of Nietzsche, who his favorite author was, according to Marx and the 1969 he received his doctorate. It was his aim to overcome the negative image of Nietzsche in Marxist circles, Grlićs view, the Nazi interpretation of Nietzsche's ideas did not correspond to their real nature. In 1971 he was called as a professor at the University of Belgrade. From 1974 until his death ten years later, he headed the Department of Aesthetics of Arts in Zagreb. In addition Grlić was a member of the Board of " summer school " practice group on the island of Korcula.
