Daniel " Danny" Allsopp ( born August 10, 1978 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian football player.
Club career
Career start in Australia until 1998
Danny Allsopp began his active career by a fellow at the Victorian Institute of Sport in 1995 at Croydon City in the Victorian Premier League ( VPL ). In summer 1995, he moved to South Melbourne FC in the National Soccer League. After only sporadically as a substitute came in Melbourne in his second year to the course, he joined in 1997 the league rivals and local rivals Carlton SC to, but after a short time at Port Melbourne Sharks gave him in the VPL.
Seven years in England, 1998-2005
In 1998 he was invited to the tryouts to England and finally obliged by manager Joe Royle for the transfer fee of £ 10,000 by the then third division club Manchester City. In his first season with the Citizens Allsopp was still regularly used and carried by four goals to the rise. In the second division season 1999/2000 he was rarely used and the end of 1999 was therefore initially awarded for a month to Notts County in February and March 2000, he played for a few weeks on loan at Wrexham AFC. Manchester City, meanwhile, managed to march through in the Premier League, what the potential for use for Allsopp decreased again.
In the 2000 /01 season he was initially loaned out to Bristol City, in December 2000, he again played at Notts County. There he met four times in three league games and was committed in connection for 300,000 pounds from the third division. In the following three seasons he scored 50 goals in 115 appearances for Notts. In the summer of 2003, the financially difficult ailing club was forced to sell its top earners, including Allsopp. The ambitious fourth division Hull City undertook Allsopp for a fee not published. The forward pass in his first season at Hull 15 hits and had thus crucial role in the rise in the third division.
Success in the A-League, 2005-2009
In the spring of 2005, he broke his contract with Hull on to sign the newly established Australian A-League for Melbourne Victory. His first season in Melbourne was disappointing for the attacker, he himself met only four times, Melbourne failed to reach the finals as a seventh- clear. The 2006/ 07 was much more successful for him. He benefited from the offensive qualities of the new arrival Fred, who was in these statistics with nine assists League Best and formed the attack with Archie Thompson the most dangerous attacking duo in the league. While Thompson finished the regular season with ten goals to Allsopp could get with eleven goals the title of the scorer. After you finished the regular season at No. 1 is also dominated in the Finals. In the Grand Final against Adelaide United they won 6-0, and thus the Australian Championship. Allsopp remained in the final despite numerous great chances without getting hit.
After another weaker 2007/08 season, in which we missed as the reigning champion with fifth place in the league finals, they won the 2008 /09 the championship again. Allsopp scored eleven goals with only one fewer than top scorer Shane Smeltz, in the semi-finals against Adelaide he also met once each. The final, in which they again faced Adelaide was ended for him after 65 minutes, when he was expelled by referee Matthew Breeze after a mass confrontation of the field. The red card was canceled a few days after the final of the Australian federation.
Stay in Qatar and the MLS, 2009-2010
Shortly after the start of the 2009/10 season Allsopp moved to Qatari club Al - Rayyan and there wrote a financially lucrative contract. After coach Paulo Autuori bringing back the Omani striker Amad Al Hosni turn of the year to Al- Rayyan, Allsopp played despite six goals in twelve games after a few months because of the Asian foreigners control 3 1 ( max. four foreigners, including at least one from Asia) no role in the further planning and received the transfer release. He signed in early 2010 then in the North American Major League Soccer a two-year contract with DC United. Allsopp scored for D.C. five goals in 23 league games, but the team finished the season with six wins out of 30 games the last place in the standings.
Return to Melbourne, 2011-2012
End of December 2010 Melbourne Victory gave the re- commitment Allsopps known until mid-2013.
National
Allsopp, in 1995, with the Australian U- 17 team at the U -17 World Championship in Ecuador in part. He was there with five tournament top scorer and reached by selecting the quarter-finals, in which you failed to Brazil. Two years later he played with the U -20 at the Junior World Cup in Malaysia, came in reaching the fourth round but only two brief appearances. In the Australian Olympic team, he was even taken into account several times between 1997 and 2000, but was ultimately excluded from the 2000 Summer Olympics in his own country.
In June 2007, he was appointed to a friendly match against Uruguay for the first time in the senior team and gave his international debut as a substitute. Less than a year later, he came in a friendly against Ghana to another use. His first competitive match for Australia, he played in qualifying for the Asia Cup 2011 in January 2009 against Indonesia.
