Danny Cepero

Danny Cepero ( born April 22, 1985 in Baldwin ) is an American soccer goalkeeper who currently stands at New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer contract. In his pro debut a goal he achieved in a free kick from their own half.

Career

Cepero played four years as a captain for the football team at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2007 he was drafted in the fourth round of the MLS Supplemental Draft 46th pick to the New York Red Bulls. In order to gain match practice Cepero was loaned to the Harrisburg City Islanders in early April 2008. Since New York City's first-choice goalkeeper Jon Conway has been locked because the use of illegal substances for 10 games, Danny Cepero came on 18 October 2008 on his debut in Major League Soccer. In his first professional game as a goalkeeper with a free kick from about 75 meters he managed to hit 3-1 win over Columbus Crew. It was also the first hit of a goalkeeper in MLS history.
