Daniel " Danny" Clark ( born August 30, 1951 in Launceston, Tasmania ) is an Australian former racing cyclist and four -time world champion.

Sports career

His first international success was Danny Clark at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, when he on the track won the silver medal in the 1000 m time trial. After he had become three times Australian champion, he stepped over to the professionals.

In the same year won Clark together with Fred Atkins in Sydney his first six-day race. He then moved to Europe because there were much better their career prospects as a professional cyclist. He lived many years in Belgium.

With his compatriot Donald Allan, he celebrated in the 1976/77 season his first six-day victory in Europe during the Six Days of Ghent; together they won 15 achievements in six-day races. With the British Tony Doyle he won in a further 19 six-day races. Overall, Clark started at 235 six-day race in his 23-year pro career, scoring 74 victories; so that it lies in the " eternal list of" Six Day winner in second place behind Patrick Sercu. His other partners included riders like Francesco Moser, René Pijnen, Urs Freuler, Dietrich Thurau and Bernard Thevenet. His last six-day race he won in November 1995 with 44 years in Dortmund ( with Rolf Aldag ), making it the oldest racer, featured on the list.

In addition to his successes in Six Days, the versatile Clark was seven times European Champion in the Omnium and three times derny Madison and European champion. In 1980 he was also the first world champion in the discipline Keirin and could repeat this success in 1981; 1988 and 1991 he won also the world title of the posts.

In the Six-Day Race Clark was asked not only as a racer, but also as an entertainer: He often entered the race breaks on with a few songs to which he musically accompanied himself with the guitar.

1989 Clark was living back in Australia, Australian champion on the unicycle over a mile. In 2014 he shot in Bremen on the 50th edition of the six- day race and won at the age of 62 years, the All-Star race. In addition, he joined every night as a musician.
