Danny Richmond

Danny Richmond ( born August 1, 1984 in Chicago, Illinois, USA) is an American professional ice hockey player who is under contract with the Red Bull EHC München in the German Ice Hockey League since 2013.

Career

Danny Richmond began his career as a hockey player in his home town for the Chicago Steel in the United States Hockey League. In his first season, he was promoted to Rookie of the Year and appointed to the USHL All-Star team. In the season 2002/ 03 Richmond College Hockey played for the University of Michigan in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Here he was appointed team in the CCHA All- Rookie. 2003/ 04 played Richmond for the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League. In 2004, he won with the U.S. the gold medal at the World Junior Championships.

In the NHL Entry Draft 2003 Richmond was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round by a total of 31 point. On 15 September 2004 he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. His first professional season, he played in the American Hockey League with the Lowell Lock Monsters. On 20 January 2006 he was transferred in exchange with Anton Babchuk to the Chicago Blackhawks, where he mainly for their at that time the farm team, the Norfolk Admirals played. On 17 July 2008 the Blackhawks Richmond transferred to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Tim Brent. Again, he played for the AHL team the Penguins, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Richmond played 55 games for the Penguins before he was transferred to the St. Louis Blues on 4 March 2009 in exchange for Andy Wozniewski. There, he signed a one year contract and played 54 games for the farm team of the Blues, the Peoria Rivermen, before he was transferred back to the Chicago Blackhawks.

On July 3, 2011 Richmond signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals, where he. For their farm team, the Hershey Bears played After only 24 games, he was transferred to the Colorado Avalanche, where he played for the Lake Erie Monsters.

On May 23, 2012 Richmond moved to Finland to the Pelicans in the SM- liiga. On January 27, 2013 he signed a contract with the EC Red Bull Salzburg, for which he mainly ran aground in the play- offs, before joining for a year for Red Bull EHC Munich in June 2013.

Familial

Danny Richmond comes from a sports-loving family. His father Steve played a total of 159 games in the NHL. From 2002 to 2012, he was Director of Player Development for the Washington Capitals. His twin sister Jenny was a successful athlete at Pennsylvania State University.
