Danny Vuković

Daniel " Danny" Vukovic ( born March 27, 1985 in Sydney ) is an Australian football player. The goalkeeper made ​​a blow at referee Mark Shield in the Cup Final 2008 headlines in 2011, he scored from the penalty spot as the first goalkeeper a hit in the A-League.

Club career

Vukovic began his active career in 2002 at Parramatta Power in the National Soccer League. After setting the league he played for one year at the Bonnyrigg White Eagles in the New South Wales Premier League.

With the establishment of the A-League he was taken by the Central Coast Mariners under contract and there was intended as a replacement for goalkeeper John Crawley. When Crawley drew upon a serious hip injury after the 5th Round, which eventually meant the end of career for Crawley, Vukovic moved into the starting line- and was able to establish itself there. He reached with the Mariners the final of the first season, but it lost to the Sydney FC star Dwight Yorke to 0:1.

Two years later he was with the Mariners again in the championship final. When residue of 0-1 against the Newcastle Jets Vukovic went in a corner kick in stoppage time with the front. In summer 2010, Vukovic moved to Europe and joined the Turkish first division club Konyaspor. The contract was signed but surprisingly already resolved on August 13, 2010 by club side to make room for a foreign fielder.

Vukovic then returned to the A -League and was awarded a contract by the New Zealand participants Wellington Phoenix. For the season 2011/12 he moved to league rivals Perth Glory.

National

Vukovic was first nominated in 2005 with a 12-0 win over New Caledonia for the Australian U -20 team and was in use as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Adam Federici and Justin Pasfield for the World Cup finals in the Netherlands. Between 2006 and 2007 he was the goalkeeper of the Australian Olympic team and qualified the team for the 2008 Olympic Games in China.

Through his assault in the Championship Final 2008 Vukovic, however, was closed for the tournament. An attempt by the Australian Association to suspend the lock for the period of the tournament, was inhibited by FIFA.

In early 2009 the keeper was appointed with Serbian roots as part of the qualification for the Asia Cup 2011 for the first time in the Australian national team, but did not play.
