Danum-Valley-Conservation-Area

The Danum Valley Conservation Area ( German: Danum Valley Conservation Area) is a 438 -square-kilometer reserve in the Malaysian state of Sabah in the northeast of the island of Borneo. The reserve is part of a 10,000 -square-kilometer forest management area, the Yayasan Sabah Group belonging to Yayasan Sabah Forest Management Area, located in the well as other nature reserves and forest areas used for agriculture and forest rehabilitation areas. An adjacent conservation area within the forest management area is 588 square kilometers Maliau Basin Conservation Area.

The protected area is almost entirely covered by tropical lowland rain forests.

So the reserve numerous animal species provides a home, which are threatened by the destruction of this Lebensaraumes. Among the approximately 120 species of mammals especially the rare Orangutans are emphasized. But also many other rare large animals like Asian elephants, banteng, sun bears, clouded leopards, Bartsch wines and various species of deer, the area offers a home. Furthermore, it is one of the last refuges of the rare Sumatran rhinoceros dar. in reserve about 340 bird species occur.
