Daphne Arden

Daphne Arden (married Slater, born December 29, 1941 in Birkenhead ) is a former British sprinter.

The European Athletics Championships 1962 in Belgrade they were each fourth over 100m and 200m, and won with the British team bronze in the 4 x 100 - meter relay. In the same year she was at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth Fifth over 100 yards and caught with the English relay silver in the 4 x 110 yards relay.

In 1964, she reached the semifinals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo about 100 m and was eighth over 200 m. In the 4 x 100 - meter relay team, she won the bronze medal with the British quartet in the cast Janet Simpson, Mary Rand, Arden and Dorothy Hyman.

In the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1966 in Kingston, she was eighth over 100 yards and won with the English team again silver in the 4 x 110 yards relay.

1964 and 1966 she was British champion in the 100 yards, 1964 over 220 yards. In the hall she took four times the national title over 60 yards ( 1962-1964, 1966).

Daphne Arden launched for Birchfield Harriers and was coached by Bill Marlow.
