Daphne Seeney

Daphne Fancutt ( born February 2, 1933 as Daphne Seeney ) is a former Australian tennis player.

Life

Fancutt grew up on a property near Monto in Queensland. Her father, a former jockey, taught her the game of tennis. 1953 she won the Clay Court Championships of Queensland. In 1956, she reached the semifinals at the Australian Championships in singles. At Wimbledon, she came in a double together with Fay Muller prior to the finals. At the German Championships, she won the doubles title.

In 1957 she married the South African tennis player Trevor Fancutt, with whom she had previously reached the semi-finals in the mixed at Wimbledon. Since 1962 both run a tennis center in Brisbane.

In January 1995, she was nominated for her contributions to the tennis to the Member of the Order of Australia.
