Darco

Darco ( * 1968 in Bielefeld; actually Gellert Darco ) is a German - French graffiti writing artist who lives and works in Paris.

Life

Darco came in 1976 with his parents to France, where he first attended a German school in Paris.

In 1984 he started together with his friend Gawki to spray. In 1985, she founded the group sprayer FBI Crew ( Fabulous Bomb Inability ), who also Loomit, Cemnoz, neon and DAIM joined and became an international artist collective. 1987 Darco was admitted to the United Artists.

Darco was sentenced in 1989 as a first sprayer in France for damage to property. The SNCF ( French Railways) decided under the influence of various ministers and media that Darco was able to work off his punishment in the form of murals for the railway company. Among other things, created the 1000 m² mural at the Gare du Nord in Paris. 1989-1991 graduated Darco trained as a set designer, but has since been working as a freelance artist.

His specialty is Stylewriting. Although it retains the outlines ( contours), his style is often associated with the 3D style.

Projects

For the World Cup, he created in 1998, together with Loomit, DAIM and further, a 350 -square-foot mural in Nantes.

The artistic direction took Darco together with DAIM for signs of the times in Hamburg. The work was given a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest graffiti in the world. Under the organizational leadership of Lothar Knode, written in December 1995, the graffiti of a total of 300 m² on a skyscraper facade. 1000 Aerosols required the artists for the 30 -meter high and 11 meter wide work of art. It shows a blend of written and pictorial elements as well as quotations from masterpieces of mural painting.

Darco is artistic advisor Jean -Jacques Beineix and designed a concept for DJ Vadim's album The art of listening. Some of his works were of museums, such as the Palais de Tokyo, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Musee des Arts et traditions populaires, the Kallmann Museum and the Grand Palais, acquired and exhibited.
