Dardo IFV

Dardo in Capo Teulada

Dardo (Eng. arrow, spear ) is the name of an Italian IFV.

It was developed together with the Ariete main battle tank in the 1980s by a consortium consisting of Oto Melara, Fiat and IVECO, for the Italian army. By 2005, a total of 200 of these tanks were put into service, a further 300 are in various versions (including TOW missile carrier, 120 - mm mortar carrier ) follow. Originally, the IFV " Dardo " should be put into service in the early 1990 's, but it was due to financial problems in a significant delay of the program. The former name " VCC -80 " is very rarely used.
