Dargen

Dargen is located on the homonymous island right on the shore of the Szczecin Lagoon, a town near Usedom. The community is managed by the Office of Usedom -Süd, located in the town of Usedom. By 2005, the village belonged to the Official Ahlbeck - Szczecin Lagoon.

Geography

Dargen lies on the northern shore of the Szczecin Haff amidst the nature park Usedom Island. About eleven kilometers west of the municipality is the town of Usedom and about ten kilometers north of the seaside resort of Ahlbeck.

History

The municipality belongs since 1990 to the state of Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. Since 1994 it belonged to the Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, which was to become the district Vorpommern - Greifswald 2011.

The area of Dargen was settled very early, as proven many early and ancient historical localities. Was first documented in the community in 1386.

Together with the neighboring Stolpe Dargen belonged in the 14th century to the basic property of the Lords of Winter field. After the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 Dargen belonged to Swedish Pomerania and the Prussian was in 1720 after the Treaty of Stockholm. After the administrative reform in 1815 Dargen came to the Prussian province of Pomerania and belonged from 1818 to 1945 the district of Pomerania.
