Dario Mangiarotti

Dario Mangiarotti ( born December 18, 1915 in Milan, † April 9, 2010 in Lavagna ) was an Italian fencer.

Dario's father Giuseppe Mangiarotti was a successful fencer who could win 17 Italian league titles. It opened in 1908 a fencing hall in Milan, where he approaches led Italian fencer at the top. Among his pupils were his sons Dario and the little more than three years younger Edoardo Mangiarotti.

Dario Mangiarotti won silver in 1948 with the epee team where his brother was also in the Olympics. In the World Fencing Championships 1949 in Cairo Dario won gold in singles and with the team. The individual victory was Dario's only title without fraternal support. At the Olympic Games in 1952 Dario won silver in the individual competition behind his brother and gold in the team competition with his brother.

After 1952, Dario devoted increasingly take over his father fencing school, then later his brother came as a fencing master in the. The two brothers then served as an instructor in the wake of several generations of world class fencers.
