Darius of Pontus

Darius of Pontus ( Latinized Darius of Pontus ) lived in the first century BC and was a prince of the Kingdom of Pontus and the King 39-37 BC He was a monarch with Iranian, Greek and Macedonian roots.

Darius was the first child of the King Pharnakes II and his Sarmatian woman. He had two younger siblings: a sister named Dynamis and a brother named Arsaces. According to the Greek historian Strabo Darius was by a rebel commander named Arsaces over a certain period of time guarded, as he held a fortress, which was besieged by Polemon and Lycomedes of Comana.

Darius was BC used by triumvir Mark Antony 39 as ruler of Pontus. His reign as king was short, as he died in 37 BC. He was succeeded by his brother Arsaces, whose reign was, however, still shorter, eventually he died the same year. His successor was Polemon.
