Darius Paul Dassault

Darius Paul Dassault born Darius Paul Bloch ( born January 13, 1882 in Paris, † May 3, 1969 ) was a French general who was in the French Resistance and there assumed the pseudonym Dassault. He studied at the École polytechnique in 1901 and his doctorate. He made ​​a career in the army and in 1933 became brigadier general. During the occupation, he was active in the resistance and was named Dassault, which is derived from the code name " Chardasso " and probably of "char d' assaut ", the French term for assault tank. In 1944 he was appointed Chancellor of the Legion of Honour (grand chancelier de la Légion d' honneur ) and held this position until 1954. He is 10 years older brother of the operator Marcel Bloch, who also assumed the name Dassault.
