Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker Carlos ( born May 13, 1966 in Charleston, South Carolina) is an American rock, R & B and country singers. He became known in the '90s as lead singer of the band Hootie and the Blowfish.

Rucker attended Middleton High School in his hometown and then went to the University of South Carolina. There he met the three classmates with whom he shared Hootie and the Blowfish founded in 1989. From 1994, they had several hit singles and three top 5 albums in the United States. Then they made only once a break that took Rucker for a solo trip. Instead of staying true to the pop-rock style of the band, he went in the direction of R & B and put the album The Return of Mongo Slade finished. The publication of the tape label Atlantic but failed due to contractual problems, so his solo debut in 2002 was released by the indie label Hidden Beach under the new name Back to Then. The album remained relatively unsuccessful, reaching only the lower ranks of R & B and sales charts.

Just one year later Hootie and the Blowfish took on a new album together. But after this and the following album had only been moderately successful, the band broke up in 2008.

Darius Rucker, it took some a fresh start with his solo career and turned this time in the direction of country music. The music was familiar to him from his youth in South Carolina and he had tried to introduce them also in Hootie and the Blowfish, but was overruled by his fellow band members. 2005 he also appeared in a television commercial as a singing cowboy.

His first single Do not Think I Do not Think About It was published in 2008 and was immediately a great success. She worked her way up to No. 1 on the country charts before and he was the first African American with a country number one hit since Charley Pride in 1983. His album Learn to Live also came afterwards at No. 1 in the country albums and It Will not Be Like This for Long became the second number-one single in a row. Also in the official Hot 100 or Billboard 200 charts Rucker was successful with singles and album. On 2 October 2012, he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

His biggest hit was Darius Rucker in 2013 with the song Wagon Wheel. He was not only his third number one on the country charts and reached number 15 on the Hot 100, it sold over two million copies and got double platinum. He was also honored at the 2014 Grammy Awards as best country solo performance of the year.

End of July 2013 announced the mayor of Ruckers hometown Charleston in the U.S. state Souh Carolina that a street after successful citizens is named. The Coliseum Drive ie from mid-August Darius Rucker Boulevard.

In an interview with the music magazine Rolling Stone, Darius Rucker revealed that he with his old bandmates to record a new Hootie & the Blowfish album and go on tour.
